Through lockdowns and border closures Maersk has successfully managed to develop solutions that have enabled its customers to keep their cargo moving.
The recently introduced air freight offerings by Maersk have brought in PPE cargo to the region with Dubai emerging as a critical hub in movements of cargo into the Middle East and critically, also in to Africa.
Mr Cook also highlights the investments that Maersk has made in digitalization over the years and how it has paid off handsomely in the current crisis.
Customers are now able to access quotes and confirm bookings entirely online through their laptops and mobiles. Employees too can now be equally productive while working from home thanks to Maersk’s state-of-the-art digital communication systems.
“Maersk was already on a transformation journey and the pandemic has demonstrated we have made the right choices,” said Mr Cook.
As the relations between UAE and Israel have normalised Maersk has introduced new service offerings which have gone live in the last few weeks.
Mr Cook concludes by thanking the Dubai Government for its efforts in continuing to keep everybody safe through these testing times.
