LOG PROCUREMENT FORESTER WANTED | Jobs

Empire Lumber Company is seeking a motivated and independent individual whose responsibilities will include all aspects of log procurement from the woods to the log yard. Empire Lumber Company is a family owned operation with sawmills located in Weippe, ID, and dry kiln, planer, and shipping operations in Kamiah, ID. Primary duties will include oversight and management of all company purchased timber sales, from inspecting, appraising, bidding and purchasing to bonding, contracting, administration, and delivery. Other duties will include private delivered log or stumpage purchases, monitoring of a delivered log quality program, logging and log yard inventory planning, and professionally representing Empire Lumber Company at industrial or governmental forestry related meetings.

This person will need to be able to work outside in adverse weather conditions and in difficult terrain. Applicants must have a valid driver’s license and be able to drive on rough roads and operate an ATV.

A B.S. in Forest Management or related degree is preferred.

Experience in State, USFS, and private log procurement is preferred, as well as experience or working knowledge in silviculture and timber harvest systems. Applicants must be able to proficiently use Microsoft Word and Excel. This person should exhibit strong interpersonal, analytical, and problem solving skills and good written and oral communication skills.
