Amber Beverage Group has acquired majority control of Mountain Spirits
The transaction, announced today, is for an unspecified stake size. Financial details were also not disclosed.
Formed in 2004, Mountain Spirits is based in the Tirol region of Austria and focuses its operations on outlets across the Alps. The company handles distribution for brands including Warsteiner lager, Disaronno and Tia Maria liqueurs and Balblair single malt Scotch whisky.
The firm will also handle the distribution of Amber’s spirits brands.
“Mountain Spirits, a boutique and highly-respected Austrian distribution company and wholesaler, will provide us with a powerful footprint in Central Europe and with the ability to reach into the strategically important Alps,” said Amber CEO Seymour Ferreira. “Markus Panzl will stay on in his role as MD and we wish him every success in the future.”
Panzl, who also founded Mountain Spirits, added: “Joining Amber represents a very promising venture which will strengthen our portfolio and footprint in Austria and Europe overall. We are happy to… participate in this extraordinary journey.”
Amber, which is owned by Stolichnaya owner SPI Group, has had a busy year, appointing a new CMO in March, extending the range of its Moskovskaya vodka brand to include four Russian-themed flavours and taking full control of UK distributor Cellar Trends.
