Corbyn ‘ran the best campaign he could’
Ken Livingstone has told Sky News he was “very depressed” by the election result, but claimed Jeremy Corbyn had been the subject of “the most vile smear campaign”.
The former mayor of London, who quit the party last year after being suspended over claims of antisemitism, also argued the issue which has dogged the party had been “dealt with”.
“The media coverage implied that we were institutionally antisemitic and that was completely and utterly untrue,” he said.
Defending Mr Corbyn, Mr Livingstone added: “He ran the best campaign he could, but in a completely hostile environment.”
