Shimla: Continuing with its drive against the liquor factories for irregularities, the state taxes and excise department has now cancelled the license of a liquor factory in Sirmaur district of Himachal Pradesh. During investigation, a team of officials from the department had found irregularities and lapses in the making, handling and transportation of alcohol.
Commissioner, state taxes and excise, Yunus said for some time, the department was investigating irregularities committed by a liquor factory located at Nariwala, Paonta Sahib in Sirmaur district. He said the high-level investigation had found that the said beverages company carried about 900 boxes of liquor without any valid pass and permit. He said apart from this, it was also found that the said company had repeatedly violated the terms and conditions of the license and penal action had already been taken with heavy fine.
He said taking strong cognizance of this, the department has cancelled the license of the said liquor factory. Orders have also been given to seal this factory. This action was taken under the HP Excise Act, Distilleries rules and HP bonded warehouse rules. He said the department is continuously taking action against the traders of illegal liquor. In continuation of this, the department has taken major action in Sirmaur district.
A few days back too, the Nurpur team of the excise department had taken joint action against the illegal liquor makers in the border area Chhanni Valley adjoining Punjab. The department was getting information about making illegal liquor in this area. Despite being a border area, the department took action in this area and about 85,000 liters of raw liquor was destroyed after completing the legal process.
