Center to support ‘Littlest Listeners’ program
MIDDLETOWN — The Connecticut Storytelling Center, in residence at Connecticut College, New London, is providing foundational support for its work to promote literacy in the classroom.
The Community Foundation of Middlesex County and the Middletown Commission on the Arts recently committed to supporting our Littlest Listeners program in Middletown preschools. In this residency program, CSC’s teaching artists make repeat visits to the classroom to spark interest in oral and written literature, while focusing on other school goals like multicultural knowledge and respect. Storytellers utilize the arts as an effective tool to improve listening, speaking, and visualizing skills, the first three components of literacy. More information about our schools outreach is available on our website, www.ConnStoryCenter.org.
The Connecticut Storytelling Center is also gearing up for its annual festival in April, featuring nationally acclaimed storyteller, Bill Harley. For more information, visit https://connstorycenter.org/festival.htm .
