FORT MYERS, Fla. – Three men have been sentenced to years in federal prison after they were involved in a family drug business distributing methamphetamine around Southwest Florida.
Genaro Deleon III ran a drug distribution organization out of his Lehigh Acres home. According to court documents, he employed his father, Genaro Deleon Jr., and his two uncles, Michael Lee Faz and Abel Deleon, to work as dealers.
The three were responsible for selling to customers and collecting the drug proceeds.
For a year, law enforcement made approximately nine undercover purchases from the organization, which yielded hundreds of grams of pure methamphetamine. Finally, in October of 2021, a search warrant was executed, and the defendants were arrested. Multiple firearms were also seized during that operation.
For their involvement, the three men pled guilty to conspiracy charges and received the following sentences:
- Michael Lee Faz – Ten years, one month in federal prison
- Abel Deleon – Seven years, eight months imprisonment
- Genaro Deleon, Jr. – Five years, ten months in federal prison
The organization’s leader, Genaro Deleon III also pled guilty to conspiracy charges.
In an effort to thwart the investigation, Deleon III buried the organization’s stash of methamphetamine in the woods are his property, which he had patrolled by dogs and motion-sensing cameras.
He is scheduled to be sentenced in January 2023.
