The carmaker’s expansion plans particularly focus on an all-new site dedicated to the new four-seater Gemera.
Koenigsegg is behind some of the fastest supercars in the world. Soon, it will be behind one of the state-of-the-art auto factories on Earth. Staying true to its call as a purveyor of cutting-edge mobility technology, Koenigsegg has unveiled its expansion plans for its supercar facilities in Sweden.
Expansion Plans Include New Factory For Gemera
The carmaker’s expansion plans particularly focus on an all-new site dedicated to the new four-seater Gemera, for an on-site building footprint of more than 30,000 square meters. The new factory will rise on the grounds of Valhall park, which is the former home of the F10 Air Force Ghost Squadron. As a tribute to this legendary squadron, all future Koenigsegg cars produced at the extension will wear the reputable Ghost badge.
Koenigsegg’s new Gemera factory features an exterior design that takes inspiration from the accordion-like layout of old Swedish factories. The carmaker will connect the new factory to its existing office building and its high-tech production and assembly spaces. Thanks to the proximate location of the factory to Koenigsegg’s other facilities, the carmaker can easily synergize various processes including design, engineering, sourcing, production, assembly, prototyping, and research and development.
Site To Include Lounge, Experience Center And Track
Koenigsegg’s new Gemera factory will feature a high-tech production and assembly line, as well as ultra-modern customer lounge with real-time life-size specification process. It will also have offices, event, showroom and retail spaces. Furthermore, Koenigsegg plans to add warehousing and pre-production spaces.
The carmaker will also build an 800-sqm experience center where visitors and longtime fans can visit Valhall park and take a look at its past and present cars on rotation in a gallery space. The expansion may also include an all-new on-site track located outside the Gemera factory and the main office building. Koenigsegg will use this on-site track (with technical corners) for on-location pre-delivery testing and prototyping trials.
Company Expansion Means More Jobs To Fill
As per Koenigsegg, the expansion will also focus on employee well-being and productivity. This means the carmaker will provide manicured and interactive green spaces that would include outdoor gyms, alfresco decking as well as tree pods for outdoor meetings. In addition, Koenigsegg will install solar panels on as many flat roof areas of its facilities.
The further expansion of the carmaker’s on-site facilities in Angelhom means the company would need more heads for various jobs. Thus, Koenigsegg is planning to recruit and hire another 100 engineers and 150 production staff by the end of 2023, thereby increasing its total manpower to nearly 800 employees.
