Jefferson Parish child care facilities given PPE

As child care centers in Louisiana prepare to reopen, they are getting much needed assistance to ensure staff and students are safe. More than 100 pallets of personal protective equipment are being distributed from the Jefferson Parish Schools warehouse for child care professionals in need. “It is actually essential to us opening back up so I’m very grateful the Department of Education and Ready Start with hallowing us to come and get this,” said Monique Rouege with Carley Care Kids.Jefferson Ready Start Network is partnering with Jefferson Parish Schools, the Louisiana Department of Education, and Agenda for Children to host the distribution. The supplies are to help the centers with critical supplies like masks, gloves, cleaning products, hand sanitizer, touchless thermometers, hand soap, paper towels and facial tissue. Each site is getting about $56,000 worth of supplies provided by the state department of education. Organizers said there are about 140 early learning centers in Jefferson Parish. About 60 percent of those have reopened with more expected to reopen August 1.
