Tribune News Service

Ludhiana, January 15

Alleging irregularities in the distribution of cheques under the Punjab Nirman scheme, members of Yuva, an NGO, staged a protest in Haibowal area and demanded probe in this regard.

Kumar Gaurav, a member of the NGO, alleged that the funds released under the Punjab Nirman scheme have been misused and a probe must be conducted in this regard. He alleged that no cross checking or physical verification was not done before issuing the cheques.

While performing a role of politician during a drama staged today, he alleged, “Most of the cheques have been issued to favourites of the Congressmen instead of giving to the actual needy people ahead of assembly elections. I have obtained documents of one of the constituencies that indicate irregularities. We demand probe regarding distribution of cheques in North constituency.”

It is required to mention that the BJP had earlier alleged a big scam under the Punjab Nirman Kosh scheme and they had demanded registration of FIR against those involved in the alleged scam.
