The Real Pet Food Company has announced it was consolidating its manufacturing for dry pet food to its main production facility at Dubbo.
“The decision to close the factory has been very difficult because it impacts the lives of 68 employees and their families,” CEO David Grant said.
Mr Grant said all employees have been offered a generous redundancy package, counselling support and assistance to find other jobs.
Mr Grant said the decision to close the factory was made on commercial grounds.
“It provides strong synergies and the ability to concentrate and focus on improved products and greater economies of scale,” he said.
The company said all employees will remain in their jobs until the mid-December shut down.
“We will continue to work closely with all employees to ensure they have as much support needed from now until we close the site,” he said.
Future plans for the Swanbrook Road site have not been released.
The company said a decision regarding the land and buildings will be made next year.
