Indranee Rajah on controls and checks for pandemic-related procurement, expenditure

The Ministry of Finance started reviewing controls and checks in relation to COVID-19 pandemic-related procurement and expenditure earlier this year. Respective agencies have been conducting audits to ensure transactions are bona fide and there is no erroneous payment. This is on top of the Auditor-General’s thematic audit. The ministry is reviewing its guidelines on procurement, contract management and payment to ensure control measures are appropriate for future emergencies. It will also issue an advisory to agencies to strengthen adoption of good practices and minimise financial risks during emergencies. Second Minister for Finance Indranee Rajah said this in Parliament on Tuesday (Sep 13) in reply to an MP’s question.
