‘Increase procurement, sale prices of milk every year’

The Tamil Nadu Milk Producers Welfare Association urged the State government to make it a policy decision to increase procurement and sale prices of milk every year for the benefit of both consumers and milk producers.

The milk producers said as the procurement and sale prices were revised only once in three-four years at present, it neither benefitted the producers not the consumers.

The producers demanded that the price of cow milk should be increased by ₹10, from ₹32 to ₹42 and buffalo milk by ₹15, from ₹41 to ₹56. The producers demanded that the devices to check milk quality should be made available in all primary associations and insurance cover must be provided for cattle.

The milk producers also demanded measures to include milk in mid-day meal scheme of school students.
