The Imagination Factory Children’s Museum in Iron Mountain recently received a $17,000 donation from the Dickinson County 100-Plus Women Who Care.
From December 2012 to November 2019 — 29 gatherings in all — 100-Plus Women had raised about $600,000 for local charities and organizations.
The mid-November session at Pine Grove Country Club was the group’s first meeting since 2019 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Imagination Factory Children’s Museum, the centerpiece of the Our Place Community Center, officially opened in September in Iron Mountain’s former Central Middle School at 217 W. Hughitt St.
“Offering children and families a place to gather, play and learn is our sincere goal and this contribution shows us that we have a community behind us in our mission to provide something for everyone,” said Cherie Fila, executive director team member.
“The generosity of the 100 Women Who Care will help purchase three new interactive museum exhibits and sustain and support the love we have for children that continues to change the course of our community,” added Barb Reisner, executive director team leader.
The 100-Plus Women Who Care in Dickinson County normally meets quarterly, with participating women contributing $100 each, as individuals or groups of four, into a pot. They then listen to pitches from three area non-profit programs or agencies vying to receive the entire amount donated.
