Carroll-based Anheuser-Busch wholesaler, Ike Auen Distributing Co., delivered nearly 100 cases of canned water to the Charter Oak Fire Department earlier this week. According to President, Jim Auen, Anheuser-Busch works with the National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) to identify departments who request it. However, he says local distributors are tasked with the actual delivery.

Through the NVFC, four Iowa fire department received a shipment of water this year. This is only the second time in recent memory that Ike Auen Distributing made such a delivery. Auen says the last time was in 1993.

Fortunately, this instance was not in response to a natural disaster. As for what happens next to the water, that is up to the Charter Oak Fire Department. They can choose to store the water until it is needed, ship it to another area in need or distribute it locally. Ike Auen Distributing has served the five-county region in west-central since 1950.
