Heineken offers IOU beer packages to gifters impacted by supply chain issues

Heineken has made light of supply chain delays threatening to overshadow Christmas by issuing free IOU placeholder gifts to bring along to the office party instead.

Drowning the sorrows of customers who won’t receive their presents in time, the Dutch brewer has curated a deluxe gift set containing six bottles of lager and a personalized note of apology to reassure the recipient that their real present is still on its way.

Opening on December 10 and running throughout the two three-day weekends before Christmas, the box sets include a gift card for more Heineken to ensure that no one goes thirsty this Christmas.

Valid in select US cities for gift-givers aged 21 and over who present a screenshot of their delayed shipping notification, there will be limited quantities of free beer available on each day of the promotion.

In a statement, Heineken explained: “Supply chain issues are leaving shelves empty and packages delayed. But don’t worry. Grab a Heineken IOU and show up to your gathering with the perfect placeholder gift: beer.”

Heineken’s practical altruism to the supply chain crisis follows warnings of a global shipping crunch that could hit the UK harder than most, with major brands forced to tailor their media plans in anticipation of widespread shortages.
