Gurgaon: A police team from Gurgaon busted an illegal gun manufacturing unit inside a factory making locks in Hathras district of UP on Friday. The gun making unit, police said, was in operation for the past six months and the gang was involved in supplying weapons to criminals across Delhi-NCR and other areas of UP.
Till now, three members of the gang have been arrested. The accused have criminal records and have cases of loot, dacoity and attempt to murder lodged against them. The first arrest was made on March 19. Abhishek alias Gabbar (20) was picked up from Panchgaon on the Delhi-Jaipur highway and 25 country-made pistols were recovered from his possession. A case under the Arms Act was lodged against him.
Abhishek told the interrogators he would source illegal weapons from Aligarh in UP and supply them to a gang in Gurgaon. He had reached the Haryana city by taking lifts in trucks and was arrested before he could deliver the consignment.
On March 21, Abhishek alias Jitu, the mastermind of the gang, was picked up from Hathras. He spilled the beans on the illegal arms manufacturing unit.
On Friday, the police managed to arrest the third accused, Sunil Kumar (25), from Ghaziabad. Six months ago, the gang had taken a place on rent and was running the arms unit under the garb of manufacturing locks.
“They had developed a new model under which they were not only manufacturing guns but also supplying them. After manufacturing the weapons, they would hand them over to their agents to make deliveries against a commission of 10%,” said Preet Pal Sangwan, the ACP (crime).
