Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care System Drive-Thru Food Distribution

The Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care system in Biloxi hosted a food distribution event today.

The mobile food pantry, driven by the GCVHCS Homeless Veterans Program, is designed to provide food for veterans and their families.

The event served as a drive-thru event where employees distributed supplies to those on a first come, first serve basis.

Goods were donated by Feeding the Gulf Coast and the Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care System is still accepting donations for more than 700 homeless and at-risk veterans with more than 200 of them on the Gulf Coast. Homeless Program Manager Jodie Picciamo-Swanson said, “You know we’ve gotten a lot of ‘God bless you.’ We’ve gotten ‘thank you for what we’re doing,’ I’m just getting goosebumps right now cause it is so rewarding to be able to do this for our veterans. It’s just one extra thing that we want to do here at Gulf Coast.”

Community members interested in donating are encouraged to contact GCVHCS at 228-523-5763. Additional information can be found on their Facebook page as well.
