GPHC Procurement Director sent on leave

Director of Procurement at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC), Karen Cumberbatch, has been asked by the hospital’s management to proceed on leave as a part of an ongoing rapid assessment at the hospital.

Chelauna Providence, Head of Strategic Planning and Communications at GPHC, last night told Stabroek News that during a meeting yesterday attended by the hospital’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Brigadier (Ret’d) George Lewis; deputy CEO, Robbie Rambarran; and Head of Human Resources, Rohmena Chung, it was requested of Cumberbatch that she proceed on accumulated vacation leave. The leave amounts to approximately 40 days.

She explained that the hospital is currently undertaking a rapid assessment to understand the medical facility’s needs and wants and it is in light of this that the Director of Procurement was asked to proceed on leave.

It is unclear what the circumstances are surrounding the request by the assessment team.
