The Chhattisgarh government has released directives for paddy and maize procurement that began across the state on Tuesday.
Accordingly, paddy will be bought at `1,868 per quintal for common grade and `1,888 for A-grade. The paddy prices have been fixed by the Indian government, a press release said.
For the Kharif season 2020-21, paddy will be purchased from December 1 to January 31, 2021 while maize procurement from December 1 will end on May 31, 2021.
From seed producing farmers, paddy seeds will be procured at identified centres on the bases of certificates provided by the Seed Corporation between March 1 and May 31, 2021.
Barring government holidays, paddy will be procured across the state from Monday till Friday. On every Saturday, the record of the quantity procured, gunny bags used and money spent on procurement by every society will be updated on the paddy procurement software.
At every cooperative society level, a committee will be formed to monitor the quality of paddy bought from farmers. The panel will consist of the President of the cooperative society, authorized officer, local Sarpanch, a representative nominated by the Collector and two public representatives nominated by the Minister in-charge of the district.
According to an order released by the Food Department, maximum 15 quintals of paddy per acer will be purchased from one farmer.
In all 48 mandis and 76 sub-mandis have been identified for paddy procurement. Landless farmers doing ‘Adhiya’ and Regha (contract) farming will have to bring their loan book to sell their paddy.
