Glitz Soap moves to larger, more interactive space

A soap manufacturer and retailer that opened its first brick-and-mortar store in February has already moved to a larger location.

Glitz Soap Co. has relocated to 1 E. Main St. in Mechanicsburg. The new location will open at 9 a.m. today.

Glitz makes and sells handmade soap, shampoo and conditioner bars, hair treatments, lotions, and other items. Glitz focuses on eco-friendly products.

Glitz quickly outgrew its space at 58 W. Main St. in Mechanicsburg and the new space gives the company extra room for growth, and a more interactive space, according to Owner Alicia Miller. The entire workspace is open and visible. Glitz will be offering “make your own soap” on Fridays where customers can choose and add fragrance and color to 16 ounces of melted soap base and pour it into their choice of molds.

“It’s safe and will be great for a kids activity,” Miller said in an e-mail.

The store is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

Miller started making soap and other bath and body products more than three years ago in the basement of her Lebanon County home but just as a hobby. A year later when she moved to York County she began selling the soap online and to wholesalers before moving the business to the first shop on Main Street in February.
