GE Appliances announced on Oct. 28 a major factory expansion in Kentucky that is expected to add 1,000 new jobs.

The company — owned by Chinese multinational corporation Haier — said it plans to spend $450 million at its sprawling Appliance Park in Louisville to modernize facilities, boost capacity, and launch new products.

The project is expected to create at least 1,000 new jobs by the end of 2023.

GE Appliances said the company has invested over $1.3 billion in its U.S. production and distribution operations over the past five years and created over 3,000 jobs in that span — most of them in Kentucky.

The company was approved for economic incentives by local officials, including up to $80 million in potential funding if GE maintains at least 7,100 workers at Appliance Park over the next decade. It currently employs approximately 7,200 people at the complex.

The Park produces household appliances, including refrigerators, dishwashers, and air conditioners.
