Fuel firm run by Limerick FC owner Pat O’Sullivan scores €2.1m tax bill | Ireland

A fuel company run by Pat O’Sullivan, the Limerick FC owner, owes the second largest bill to Revenue in the list published last week of tax defaulters for the last quarter of 2019.

Galtee Fuels, a wholesaler that has been in liquidation since 2018, was hit with a €2.1m bill for the underdeclaration of corporation tax, PAYE, PRSI, USC, VAT and solid fuel carbon tax. Less than €6,000 of the Revenue bill had been paid by the end of December.

Last week O’Sullivan said “there is more to this than meets the eye”, when asked about the Revenue bill. Limerick FC dropped out of the League of Ireland first division this season following a protracted battle with the FAI over financial problems.
