Freight Futures data to watch: Weekly spot contract settlement changes

The Trucking Freight Futures markets continued their march higher last week, reflecting the overall boom in the freight economy. The spot National contract (FUT.VNU202007) rose $0.023, or 1.5%, to $1.580 per mile, setting another all-time weekly high for the spot National contract. The East regional contract (FUT.VEU202007) posted a solid $0.04 gain to finish the week higher by 2.6%, to $1.607, and the West regional contract (FUT.VWU202007) rose $0.021, or 1.3%, to $1.688.The South regional contract (FUT.VSU202007) rose a modest 0.6% for the week to $1.444. 

On the individual lanes, the CHI to ATL contract (FUT.VCA202007) jumped $0.049, or 2.9%, to $1.770; the ATL to PHL contract (FUT.VAP202007) rose $0.047 (2.4%), to $2.017; and the PHL to CHI contract (FUT.VPC202007) climbed $0.022 (2.2%) to settle the week at $1.034. In the West, the LAX to SEA contract (FUT.VLS202007) gained $0.034 (1.4%), to $2.546, and the SEA to LAX contract (FUT.VSL202007) finished up 1%, to $0.829. In the South, the LAX to DAL (FUT.VLD202007) contract rose $0.014, or 0.7% for the week, to $1.920, and the DAL to LAX contract (FUT.VDL202007) strengthened fractionally to $0.968.
