Free produce market distribution to begin – Times-Standard

Many community members are finding it harder to make ends meet as food and gas prices rise. To help, Food for People will host seasonal free produce distributions this summer in Eureka, Fortuna, Garberville and Redway.

These free outdoor produce distributions will begin in Fortuna on Wednesday, in Eureka on Thursday and in Southern Humboldt on July 12. The distributions will continue through October.

Upcoming free produce market distributions include:

• Fortuna Community Services — Wednesday, 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Drive-through and walk-up

• Eureka Bayshore Mall — Thursday, 11 a.m. to  1 p.m. Drive-through

• Garberville Presbyterian Church — Tuesday July 12, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Walk-up

• Redway Baptist Church — July 12, 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Drive-through and walk-up.

This program is available thanks to partnerships with California Emergency Foodlink, the California Association of Food Banks’ Farm to Family program and CalFood Logistics.
