Food distribution for families being held in McDowell County this weekend

(WVVA) -As the pandemic continues families are still in need.

That’s why the the Salvation Army in conjunction with the Princeton Rotary Club will be holding a food distribution this upcoming weekend.

More than 200 food boxes along with emergency ration meals will be provided to anyone who attends.

“With the pandemic, people aren’t to work, people aren’t able to pay their utility bills, or their phone bill, or cable. But with the help of a food box we can help divert some of that money. When folks are having to go to the grocery store and buy groceries, maybe they won’t have to buy so much and use this food, and they can use that money to go towards other things that are equally as important,” Lt. Dennis Smith with the Salvation Army of Mercer County said.

The food distribution will be held at Mount View High School in Welch from 11 am until 1 pm, again this Saturday, February 20th.
