Employees were evacuated at Leggett & Platt warehouse in Salem Twp. Tuesday morning when a fire damaged part of the business.
Jason Gorham, vice president of human resources, said the fire happened about 7:30 a.m. when an electrician was installing a light near the ceiling when a spark occurred that ignited debris.
The electrician suffered minor injuries and was treated at a local hospital, Gorham said.
Sprinkler systems inside the warehouse helped put out the flames and employees were allowed back into the facility, he said.
Company officials are still assessing the smoke and water damage. Gorham said he doesn’t yet know if the fire will impact production but the damage appears to be minor.
Leggett & Platt employs about 80 people and workers make carpet pads, he said.
