TOWN OF RICHFIELD – Local departments responded to a fire that damaged a boiler building at SV Pallet facilities.
On Feb. 27, shortly before 2:30 p.m., the Richfield Rural Fire Department was called to SV Pallet at 8128 State Highway 80, in the town of Richfield.
Upon arrival firefighters found a 40 foot by 50 foot wood-framed structure with metal siding and roof, with flames and smoke emitting from the roof peak.
A Mutual Aid Box Alarm System (MABAS) alarm was requested for more assistance; also responding were the Cameron, Rock, Vesper, Hewitt Area, Pittsville, and Lincoln fire departments, as well as Marshfield Fire & Rescue. Additional assistance was provided by Wood County Sheriff’s Department and Wood County Dispatch Center.
The building suffered major damage, with most of the damage to the roof peak area of the structure. The fire was extinguished rather quickly but overhaul took a while to remove the metal from the roof to make sure there wasn’t further fire extension. Fire units cleared the scene at 5:22 p.m.
No injuries were reported. SV Pallet expected to resume normal operations the following day.
The cause of the fire is undetermined but not suspicious in nature.
