Emergency services are responding to a large factory fire in Brunswick East, in Melbourne’s inner north.
Firefighters are tackling the blaze at a building on John Street, a block away from both the busy Nicholson Street and Glenlyon Road.
Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) said more than 60 firefighters were called to the scene.

Huge red flames and thick black smoke were seen billowing from a wholesaler business on John Street.
Those in the area have told the ABC that authorities are evacuating the surrounding streets.

An FRV spokesperson said the crews were called at about 1pm after multiple calls to triple-0.
“Firefighters arrived on scene in five minutes to find a factory well alight,” the spokesperson said at about 2pm.

“Wearing breathing apparatus, they attacked the blaze, and are working to bring it under control.”
Residents were seen helping the fire crews respond.

“Victoria Police and Ambulance Victoria paramedics are working alongside firefighters, and members of the public are asked to avoid the area to allow emergency vehicle access,” the FRV spokesperson said.
“A community advice message has been issued to people in nearby areas that smoke may be visible, and to stay informed and monitor conditions.”
