Fire Crews Battle Fire At Old Chickasha Manufacturing Building

Fire crews are on the scene of a fire Sunday at an old Chickasha manufacturing building.

The service road east of US Highway 81 is closed at Cottonwood Road due to the fire, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

The space was being used to recycle hand sanitizer, according to Grady County Emergency Management.

The building was supposed to be uninhabited, and there were 7,000 pallets of hand sanitizer still there, according to the Chickasha Fire Department.

Firefighters said they are letting the fire burn out because of potential runoff.

Crews are investigating why the pallets were left at the location.

The cause of the fire is unknown.

This is a developing story.
