Fire breaks out at factory in Ambala, no casualty : The Tribune India

A fire broke out at the Jain Laboratory Instruments Private Limited at Hargolal road in Ambala Cantonment in the wee hours on Saturday. No casualties or injuries were reported in the incident.

As per the information, seven fire tenders were rushed to the spot after the police received a call about the blaze at 3:20 am.

Surinder Tiwari, member, Cantonment Board, said “The fire broke out around 2:30 am and it was noticed at around 3 am. It is a scientific instrument factory. It is a big factory and the building is completely gutted in fire.”

Mahender Kumar, Fire Officer, Ambala Sadar Zone, said “We got the information around 3:20 am and soon after fire brigades were rushed. The fire began from the first floor and then spread quickly to other parts of the building. There were a couple of blasts too inside the factory and foam was used to douse the flames. Due to plastic and chemicals, it took several hours to completely control the fire. Seven fire tenders were pressed into service and they had made several rounds till 10:30 am”

The operation was completed around 10:30 am. Besides, the fire tenders from Ambala Sadar Zone, fire tenders from Ambala City and one fire tender of Indian Air Force was also pressed into service. State Home Minister Anil Vij also visited the spot in the morning.

Besides the building in which the fire broke out, the walls of adjoining residential buildings have also developed cracks.

Fire officer said there were no fire safety equipment and they don’t have any fire NOC too. A notice will be served to the owner soon. The exact cause of fire and loss were yet to be ascertained.
