Fire at Table Talk Pies factory in Worcester causes significant smoke damage

The Table Talk Pies factory suffered significant smoke damage on Wednesday when a fire broke out inside.Firefighters say the fire at the Worcester-based plant started in an oven just after noon.Traffic was slowed down in the Kelley Square area as smoke billowed from the building.Fire officials say it took a long time to extinguish the flames, but noted that no one was injured in the fire.“We are extremely thankful for the heroism and professionalism of the Worcester Fire Department and Massachusetts Department of Public Health. The quick response and effective work of these agencies ensured the fire at our Washington Street plant was contained to an oven and caused minimal damage. Most importantly, we are thankful that all of our valued employees were unharmed,” reads a statement from Harry Kokkinis, president of Table Talk Pies. “Our operations will not be disrupted this Thanksgiving and holiday season, as Table Talk Pies are still being baked at our two other facilities in Worcester and Shrewsbury. We are hopeful our Washington St. plant will be back operating soon and we wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving.”
