Financial stocks were ending mixed on Friday, with the NYSE Financial Index rising 0.3% this afternoon and the SPDR Financial Select Sector ETF (XLF) slipping 0.7%.
The Philadelphia Housing Index was adding 0.7% and the SPDR Real Estate Select Sector ETF (XLRE) was ahead 1.6%.
Bitcoin was increasing 0.9% to $46,217, while the yield for 10-year US Treasuries was climbing 5 basis points to 2.377%.
In company news, Veris Residential (VRE) climbed 2.5% after naming Jeff Turkanis as its new chief investment officer, with the former head of US residential properties at privately held Oxford Properties Group slated to start at the real estate investment on Monday. He succeeds Ricardo Cardoso, who is leaving Veris to pursue other opportunities.
Hudson Capital (HUSN) surged over 34% higher after announcing the sale of Hong Kong Internet Financial Services to unnamed private investors as part of efforts by the transportation logistics software firm to focus on core operations. The company said the deal will not materially affect its future results.
Among decliners, Ellington Financial (EFC) slid 0.3% after the real estate investment trust closed on a $210 million private placement of certain senior notes due April 2027.
PNC Financial Services (PNC) was falling 1.7% after the bank holding company declared a 20% increase in its quarterly dividend to $1.50 per share.
