Factory worker found murdered | Ludhiana News

Ludhiana: A 25-year-old hosiery unit worker, who had been missing since Thursday night, was found murdered at a vacant plot in Ayali Kalan on Friday morning.
Stray dogs were gnawing at the body, when passersby called up the police.
Cops reached the spot and identified the body as that of Ranjit Singh Chauhan, 35. “Ranjit, a native of Faizabad, Uttar Pradesh, was a resident of Rishi Nagar’s Z-block. The body has several injury marks and its left arm is chopped off. Dogs have left the face disfigured,” said a cop.
As Ranjit’s cellphone and wallet were missing from his pockets, his clothes, locket and motorcycle, which was lying abandoned nearby, helped identify him.
Assistant commissioner of police (West) Sameer Verma said, “Ranjit’s family told that he used to return home from his workplace by 8pm. He was at the factory when he received a call on Thursday evening. He then told his co-workers that he was going to see a plot as he planed to buy one and that he would go home later after buying vegetables.”
But when he did not return home till late night, his family started calling him up.
His uncle Eknath Singh said, “Initially, Ranjit did not answer the calls and later, his phone was switched off. We looked for him everywhere in our locality, but to no avail.” They then approached the police.
On Friday, after receiving information about the body, police called his family to the spot. “They identified it as that of Ranjit. It is suspected that personnel rivalry led to the murder. His hair were found on his bike. He must have struggled with the assailants,” the ACP added.
PAU police have registered a murder case. “We are scanning the CCTVs installed in and around the area to identify the accused,” the ACP said.
