Factory worker dies after falling into industrial meat grinder

A factory worker has died after he fell into an industrial meat grinder that shredded him up to his waist.

The 47-year-old was working at a meat-processing plant while doing maintenance on the machine along with three other men.

Emergency services confirmed he plunged into the machine when it was suddenly turned on.

Fire department chief Zulkhairani Ramli said the man “died on the spot”.

The man had been working at he meat factory near Maskid Tanah in Malaysia when the accident killed him.

Zulkhairani said authorities took about 30 minutes to extricate the man’s body from the machine.

He said: “The victim was doing maintenance with three other workers when suddenly the machine was turned on.

“The machine caught him at his waist. Because of his injuries, he died on the spot.”

Safety officials are probing the horrific incident as they launched an investigation.

The man, who was Nepalese, was one of more than two million registered foreign workers.
