ATHENS – Factory Street Studio (FSS) is excited to announce that the 2021 Virtual Winter Dance Celebration Concert will take place on Friday, Dec. 17, at 7 pm. FSS is a non-profit dance studio that started in 1978 and provides non-competitive dance education in Southeast Ohio, promoting dance technique, self-esteem, personal growth and a cooperative spirit.
Factory Street Studio invitess friends and community members to join them as they celebrate the end of a successful fall semester of dance. The Virtual Winter Dance Celebration features dances choreographed by teachers and students, improvisations and exercises from fall 2021 classes. Performances will feature ballet, modern, jazz, hip-hop and tap technique students who have been working hard since September. The dances are being recorded at Ohio University’s Putnam Hall. The pandemic has been difficult for the dancers and this will be the first opportunity they will have to perform together in a professional setting since winter of 2019.
The 2021 Virtual Winter Dance Celebration will happen on Zoom so that family, friends and community members can join safely, wherever they are. This is not a ticked event but donations of $10 or more are encouraged. FSS is a nonprofit studio and grant funding and tuition fees do not cover the costs of operating the studio and any donation amount will help to support longevity of FSS.
FSS is continually grateful for the community’s support, and also grateful to their donors, partners, and granting agencies, which include the Ohio Arts Council, Ohio University, and Appalachian Regional Commission’s OH/WV social enterprise program, who make it possible for FSS to offer affordable arts education in the community.
