Demanding to extend the deadline of paddy procurement for Rabi session till July 15, purchase of all left-out paddy revalidate the tokens of the registered farmers and fix MSP at Rs 2,930, the Kissan Congress on Friday staged demonstrations before the District Civil Supplies Offices in at least 13 districts.
The organsiation also sent memorandum to the Prime Minister and the Union Food and Civil Supplies Minister in this regard.
Kissan Congress State president Amiya Pattanayak said despite repeated reminders, the State Government has failed to purchase paddy from the farmers and as many as 29,000 registered farmers are living in uncertainty as their paddy still lies in courtyards. Because of the defective procurement policy, tokens lapsed.
