‘Ethics and risk’ at the centre of political debate over the return of ISIS brides

While people in Sydney with a cough are refused entrance into Queensland, the Federal Labor Party are supporting the repatriation of ISIS brides according to Sky News host Paul Murray.

Foreign Minister Marise Payne recently stated the resources which would be needed to re-integrate, to monitor, to secure and to de-radicalise the people brought back to Australia from these situations would be significant.

“We will not put our communities at home at risk nor our officials abroad to extract people from Syria under current conditions”.

In contrast Shadow Home Affairs Minister Kristina Keneally said “Australia has a moral duty to bring home foreign fighter families”.

Speaking of the ISIS brides Mr Murray said “they chose to go and join a caliphate … they joined the most murderous caliphates that have existed in some time”.
