February 24 (Renewables Now) – New Jersey-based Eos Energy Enterprises Inc (NASDAQ:EOSE) is planning to more than triple the capacity of its factory in Pennsylvania to 800 MWh amid growing demand for its zinc-based energy storage systems.
The new manufacturing equipment and machinery for the additional facility in the Turtle Creek borough will start arriving in March with commissioning scheduled to take place by September, Eos said on Wednesday.
The space for the additional capacity will be rented to Eos for a period of five years.
The company’s aqueous zinc battery is serving the utility, industrial, and commercial energy storage market.
The new production capacity will help Eos meet the increasing demand for storage solutions in the transition to clean energy. Eos Energy had a backlog of over USD 150 million (EUR 132.2m) and an opportunity pipeline of USD 3.7 billion, representing 22 GWh, as of end-September 2021. The company agreed in December a long-term supply and collaboration deal with Tetra Technologies, Inc (NYSE:TTI) which produces zinc-bromide.
