Edison-based 3PL company increases warehousing, distribution space by 40%

Packaging & Distribution Resources said Tuesday it is expanding its Edison facility.

The addition offers 114,000 square feet of space and includes 18 assembly lines and 40-foot ceilings for amplified storage capabilities.

The third-party logistics warehouse and distribution company, serving a multitude of personal care and home goods industries, recently experienced growth fueled by accelerated expansion in e-commerce due to the pandemic, and the success of TV home shopping networks and a booming e-tailer sector led by Amazon.

To meet these demands and specific customer needs, such as demand planning and forecasting, PDR implemented a new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system including procurement, project management and supply chain operations.

The company also increased its workforce by 15% – across operations, customer service, assembly production and receiving – and added more flow racks and conveyors to service e-commerce clients.

All of these efforts are designed to help PDR clients fulfill orders and save money.

This growth brings PDR’s Edison presence to nearly 320,000 square feet in four buildings, including two large warehouses, a warehouse and assembly facility for boutique brands, and a storage facility.

One primary PDR warehouse measures 139,000 square feet with 36-foot-high ceilings.

According to PDR Founder and CEO Jack Sandbach, “This expansion is on the heels of the company diversifying its customer portfolio and growing our e-commerce business, as well as our focus on emerging industries including PPE and at-home hair color treatments. Our new software provides added value to our clients. While they all use forecasting tools, our new ERP offers complimentary data and tools to save them money through in-depth sales data evaluation and smarter demand planning.”

PDR is regarded for its product assembly capabilities, a service it provides for Home Shopping Network and QVC, QVC UK, QVC Germany, TVSN in Australia, ShopNBC, and The Shopping Channel in Canada.

The company is also the go-to assembly and mailing services company for flash sales and “deals” segments on Good Morning America and The View.
