Eastspring combines UK and US distribution offices under new leadership

Eastspring Investments has announced that Matthew Appelstein will head up its newly-merged UK and US distribution offices, taking up the role of head of international distribution.

Applestein joined the company, which is the $222bn asset management arm of Prudential, in 2019. He will continue in his role as CEO of its Americas operation.

He has been tasked with coordinating Eastspring’s regional business lines outside Asia. A spokesperson for the company confirmed to Portfolio Adviser that Gordon Hogarth, who is head of UK distribution at Eastspring, will remain in his position and report to Appelstein.

Appelstein was previously head of global distribution at Old Mutual AM, and was also responsible for US business development during his time at RBC Global AM.

According to Wendy Lim, global head of distribution at Eastspring, the decision to appoint Appelstein was taken “following a comprehensive review”. She added: “Matthew has played a key role in establishing our presence in the Americas, and his experience and insights will be invaluable as we seek to expand our business internationally.”
