Drug grower jailed after makeshift gun factory found at his home

A drug addict found with pipe bombs and a makeshift gun workshop in his Melbourne home has been jailed.

Timothy Moran was caught when his intoxicated friend wandered into Knox Police Station in July 2019 with one of his homemade guns.

A raid on Moran’s Eltham home uncovered a gun-making workshop, an array of DIY firearms, two functioning pipe bombs, ammunition, a nunchaku, machete, a dead cannabis plant and a bag of weed.

Moran made the guns while under the influence of drugs and had dozens of pictures and videos of the weapons on his phone, including of one being fired.

He didn’t intend to sell them but at least one ended up in the hands of an intoxicated associate, which led police to Moran’s makeshift operation.
