‘Drug Factory’ Found During Death Investigation In Southbury

SOUTHBURY, CT — An illegal drug factory was found in a home in Southbury on Tuesday, after police were called to the home to investigate an untimely death, according to authorities.

Initially, the Southbury Police Department responded to the home, soon followed by detectives from the Connecticut State Police Western District Major Crime division, to investigate the death.

“During that investigation, detectives located evidence that made it apparent the decedent was operating a drug factory from within the residence,” a state police spokesperson wrote in an email to Patch. “Upon further investigation State Police detectives located precursor chemicals that could be combined to potentially manufacture explosives.”

The chemicals and all evidence were safely removed from the home, but not before the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection and other agencies got involved.
