Digital wholesale brokerage launches | Business Insurance

Pathpoint Inc., which describes itself as a digital wholesaler for excess and surplus lines insurance, officially launched Thursday, the San Francisco-based company said in a statement.

Pathpoint said it uses a proprietary technology platform and has had a “soft” launch underway with several hundred agents in six states in recent months.

The brokerage is headed by CEO Bobby Touran, who previously worked at HVF Labs, a fintech venture capital firm, and Noodle Markets, an education technology firm. According to LinkedIn, other senior staff include Alex Bargmann, who also worked at HVF, as chief operating officer, and Christopher Watrous, who was previously regional client relations manager at Risk Placement Services Inc., as head of distribution.

Insurers that have signed on with Pathpoint include Chubb Ltd., Hiscox Ltd., Beazley PLC and Zurich Insurance Group, according to the brokerage.

A Pathpoint spokeswoman declined to provide information on the company’s funding.

According to its website, coverage Pathpoint provides access to include general liability, cyber liability, commercial insurance package policies and various other specialties.
