Diaz-Canel calls to increase competitiveness in cement factory

30 de enero de 2020, 14:49Havana, Jan 30 (Prensa Latina) Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel spoke today at ‘Rene Arcay’ Cement Factory, located in Mariel, about the importance of working to be more competitive for the international market.

In the second stop of his government visit to Mariel, in the province of Artemisa, Diaz-Canel ordered to make progress in the installation of photovoltaic panels in this manufacturing center to reduce energy consumption, produce energy for the country and reduce costs.

He also called on the staff to redouble efforts to be more competitive in the international market, according to a message from the presidency on Twitter.

The head of State learned that this factory failed to meet in 2019 its cement export plan, due to the unfinished closure process and loss of markets, among other causes.

At present, it needs an investment of eight million dollars. The first five million were already approved for its recovery.
