Diageo is offering up to GBP100,000 (US$133,456) to technology companies that can make its supply chain more sustainable.
Diageo’s new programme aims to recruit sustainable technology innovators
The Johnnie Walker owner said today it has launched a global incubator project to fund companies working on supply-chain innovation. Diageo said it is looking for ways to transform its supply chain over the next decade.
The project is part of the company’s Society 2030: Spirit of Progress sustainability action plan, announced last week. The first round seeks pitches from technology companies focussed on energy, water, circular economies and agriculture.
“We are excited by the innovations we can develop together and the impact this can have on our industry – we want this to be the start of our future,” said Diageo sustainable solutions lead John Cant.
In addition to the funding, successful applicants will have the opportunity to contribute equity to the programme, Diageo said.
Beverage companies have launched a number of incubator initiatives in recent years. Diageo already operates the Distill Ventures’ incubator programme, through which it has acquired drinks companies including Seedlip and Berlin vermouth-maker Belsazar.
