PROCUREMENT of parts for the two non-operational booster pumps of Davao City Water District (DCWD) for the Dumoy Water Supply System (WSS) Line 2 could take three months.
“Since this is a government emergency, the fastest is three months, but since this is an emergency, paningkamutan nato na nga mabuhat nato in a week’s time (we will try to make procure it in a week),” Jovana Cresta Duhaylungsod, DCWD Spokesperson, said in an interview with SunStar Davao on September 16, 2022.
On September 15, 2022, DCWD issued an emergency water service interruption in the whole Dumoy Water Supply System (WSS) Line 2 due to electrical wiring being damaged and a main electrical wire needing to be replaced.
Duhaylungsod said that DCWD is trying its best to be able to procure the equipment.
“Gina-explore nato na kung unsaon nato pag-strategize nga dili ta ma-COA (Commision on Audit) since we are a government agency at the same time ma-serve nato ang katong need to expedite ang kaning pagpalit sa maong gamit (We are exploring ways on how to procure it without violating procurement rules and being called out by COA),” Duhaylungsod said.
However, Duhaylungsod said they cannot give a clear timeline because it will depend on their procurement section.
“I cannot guarantee that in a week time ma-normalize nato [ang operation] considering ang challenges sa atoang procurement (we will be able to normalize the operations in a week considering the challenges of the procurement procedure),” Duhaylungsod said. KSD
