DA demands offices for eThekwini councillors

The Democratic Alliance in eThekwini wants the council to give serious consideration to the urgent procurement of councillor offices, as many councillors are still without offices, almost four months after the elections.

DA eThekwini caucus chief whip, Thabani Mthethwa, said out of 59 of their councillors only 18 have offices, and the explanation given was unsatisfactory. There are 222 councillors in the eThekwini Municipality, and Mthethwa said many of these have no offices.

“The explanation given was that the officials felt that councillors having offices where they can better service communities was not an urgent issue.
