The Supreme Court modified the questioning portion of the Kerala High Court’s judgement so that petitioner Vijay Babu may be questioned beyond July 3, 2022 if necessary. “We are not inclined to interfere with the impugned order of HC. Except, that we modify the part on interrogation. We make it clear that the petitioner may be interrogated beyond July 3, 2022, if necessary,” the Court said. During the hearing, the Court also remarked that restriction on the investigation was something not warranted.

Assam: Flood situation slightly eases in the district, however, areas continue to remain inundated
The flood situation in Assam continued to improve although four more people, including two children, lost their lives in the deluge and nearly 11.17 lakh people remained affected in 16 districts, an official bulletin said. According to the daily flood report issued by the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), two people, including one child, drowned in Cachar district, while one person lost his life in Morigaon district during the day. One more child died due to the flood in Nagaon district, the report stated. With this, the total number of people losing their lives in this year’s floods and landslides in the state has gone up to 184.

Authorities announced on Wednesday that due to inclement weather along both the routes, Amarnath Yatra will remain suspended for the day. Due to inclement weather along both Baltal and Pahalgam routes, no movement of pilgrims will be allowed from either side towards the cave shrine today, officials said, adding that the pilgrims will not move towards the Valley from Jammu. Since Amarnath Yatra 2022 started on June 30, so far over 65,000 Yatris have performed the pilgrimage.
