Corsicana will officially open its boxed bed factory in Indiana next week.
LA PORTE, Ind. – Corsicana Mattress Co. is set to officially mark the opening of its 165,000-square-foot boxed bed factory next week after operating in a temporary facility since late 2020. The company says the renovated factory will employ 350 people at full capacity.
“We are thrilled to be celebrating the grand opening of our new plant. With the help of local, regional and state agencies, we have created a state-of-the-art boxed bed facility which will enable us to expedite delivery of product to our retailers and consumers around the nation,” said Michael Thompson, president and CEO. “Our team has worked hard to ensure the facility is appropriately equipped and ready for production.”
In addition to the Indiana facility, the company recently opened a 3,200-square-foot sourcing facility in North Carolina, and broken ground on its new 376,000-square-foot headquarters in Corsicana, Texas. Since acquiring Symbol Mattress last year, the company has also closed some factories, including a former Symbol facility in Kissimmee, Fla.
“We have been taking a strategic look at all our manufacturing facilities to create a dynamic national system that is focused on operational efficiency, quality and faster delivery to our customers,” said James Booth, chief operating officer at Corsicana. “Our Indiana crew has been working diligently these past few months to recruit and train a fantastic group of local associates who together are a formidable team delivering for our customers every day.”
The company’s grand opening will be held Wednesday, March 16, and will include Corsicana executives and local business and civic leaders, as well as elected officials.
“This is certainly a great day for LaPorte County,” said Randall Novak, LaPorte county council president. “We have always boasted about our premier location central to the Midwest, and by celebrating Corsicana’s ribbon-cutting today we are saying thank you to the teams that made it possible.”
